Fantastic video. Helped me lot with one of my most annoying problem! Thx
Hi, does fusion360 somehow know where the 2nd and 3rd duplicate work pieces are? like I seemed you didn't have to specify where the other two are. I've been trying this, and I must be missing something. Subscribed!
It doesn’t know where the other parts are located. When the code is posted, it is posted multiple times. Once for G54, once for G55, once for G56 etc. When the user sets up the machine, they have to teach each workpiece as G54, G55, G56 and so on. Then Fusion will execute the program at each of those locations.
@@MechanicalAdvantage OH! thankyou that makes sense, I figured I must be missing something. thanks for taking the time to respond!
great info and well explained. even if it's a 6yo video, it's still very useful for newbies like me
The noises you make swallowing are ridiculous
Just like it is ridiculous that your mom didn’t swallow you.
@@MechanicalAdvantage 💯💯💯
5 years later and this is still some of the best Fusion information on UA-cam. Great work!
2d chamfer works on modeled Chambers if you pick th top face profile edge and leave the chamfer width setting as 0
You can also adjust the heights to get it to work. However, it wasn’t design to work with actual modeled chamfers.
You have to know on this day 19/04/2024 you help me thanks you!!!
Excellent video for something that is rarely covered, 2nd op. I know the video is 3yrs old, You don't see many videos on cutting soft jaws for 2nd op, which almost all of my parts require.
I have a question. Whenever ever i have to put a nice chamfer along some 3d contours what i often do is to manually compensate a ball nose end mill (12mm ball nose for a 0.5mm chamfer) on every point basically via spherical coordinate s calculation given the chamfer angle and the cut path angle like literally R0=6 (tool radius) R1=45 (chmfr angle) R2=30 (path angle) G1 X=(R0*COS(R1)) Y=((R0*(COS(R1))*COS(R2))) Z=((R0*(COS(R1))*SIN(R2))) this is just the sphere comp. You need to ad the point location for every axis and ad or subtract the comp value based on what quadrant of the theorical circle you are then reduce R0 by 0.5 so the tool dive in to the part by 0.5 creating the chamfer. ALL THIS BY HAND on the machine. I have videos of it that i can upload for every one who disbelief. So my question is: is there a method in fusion for doing all this? Like a trace path but whit a ball nose one shot along 3d contours? Edit: The code i wrote is just an example I have some actual code that I can copy and paste here.
Deburr in the MFG extension.
Thank you so much
Hey Kevin, quick question. Did you set motion limits for the slider joints off camera before you created the motion link?
how is this man consistently putting out LITERALLY THE BEST CONTENT on the platfrom?
this man consistently putting out literally the best content on this webiste... how does he do it?
this video is literally amazing, thank you so much!
You need to go more in depth on how you made these setups
Creating setups in general? If that is the case I have some playlists created for creating setups on the channel.
Creating setups from a multibody part... Noone has that on yt
Im good now tho...a coworker explained it
how do make this work for 2 vises sharing the same stock? i made my te-co setup with this video and it worked great. i have 2 of these holding a larger piece of stock, like 6x24x2? how does that work where both vises use the same piece of stock? any help is greatly appreciated. thank you!
Can you send me an email to kevin @ mechanicaladvantage.com? I have an example that I did for a customer that you can have a look at as a reference.
Legitimately learned a lot here
Bt40?
you get a gold star! (and a like)
Very good video, and very informative and simple to follow. My problem is I have the free version and when I go to pick as-built joint, I don't have one in my assembly tab???? Is it possible that as-built joint is not in the free version online?
It’s in all versions. You aren’t in history mode. Right click on the design name at the top of the browser and choose capture design history. As-built joint will then appear.
At 5:36, you say you can't do counter sinks but can you not extrude the dimensions for say a cap head screw, then extrude another through hole for the socket head bolt for example? This would be the long way but i'm not sure if Fusion today can like place opposing counter sunk socket heads, ie say counter sunk from oposite sides of a plate, unless one does it manually and not via the "Hole" function. At least this is how i read it when trying to perform this. So i would just make my counter sunk holes via a sketch and extrusion. Do you know any way to perform this in a more simple way? Great video BTW and u got another subber!
Another excellent vid, thanks
The reason I want to know that function! It's nothing else but a "police mobile armored vehicle"! I asked this question because I want to model with this program, make the parts in 1/72, 1/24, or 1/35 scale and print them out as parts with a 3D printer! 8:02
Hi mate, with being able to print it out, would making the flat pattern from the inside of the tube make it too small to wrap around the tube for cutting or is the detected material width already allowing for that? thanks!
Hey Kevin, any news on the drilling engraving video? I know Xometry has changed their test part, but id still like to see this one finished
Still slow...speed up...50%
I’m sorry you don’t know your head from your ass. I wish you well in finding both of them.
I know this video is 6 yrs old, but still so helpful and clear, especially the part about the helix entry!
i wish there was a video for something that im working on bc nothing is working lmao
thanks, short and clear
Clear and concise. No unnecessary filler. Thanks
Very useful to know. Many thanks for posting this excellent tutorial.
Bashed my head against a wall all day trying to figure this out, couldn't figure out what to search up. But now I know! Cheers!
Did everything you did and it won't let me cut from the bottom
Am i wrong or is the add-on doesn't exist anymore?
Thank you, length is fine. On the side 10-32 holes, when using spot drill is a good practice to chamfer .010 to .015 before tapping?
Hello MA . . . thanks for the excellent work. Once you bring this vice assembly into a new project (or assembly) do you save it out then as a new assembly with a name specific to the use? Just thinking through usage project by project, especially when adding soft jaws and having setups specific to each part/project.
Thank you very much for the help and intructions
When initiating a job in Universal Gcode Sender (UGS) after loading Gcode generated by Fusion 360, the CNC router moves far away from the intended starting position, so far it triggers my limit switches. Do you know whats causing this?
metric units are much more intuitive once you get used to them
Missing the keyway cut
Thanks. Very useful video. ❤
We program at the lathe control panel and when software is used, operators freak out because it looks different from what they are use to. We use canned cycles and simply edit existing programs as needed. But for more complex stuff we'd like to use software of some sort. But again it doest post to what operators are use to seeing so they freak out.
I run into this a lot. CAM software can do a lot of things that wouldn’t be done when writing code by hand, such as the lead ins and lead outs as an example. Have you tried running a part from Fusion? Did the program do what it was supposed to? You can also contact a post editor that can format the output of the code to be more what the operators expect. I know this last part seems crude, but often I tell them to hit the green button.
I have zero CAD experience, I appreciate this. I've been bashing my head against a 1/2 cut cylinder trying to create a hook to connect them via every strange way I could come up with. 8 minutes in it's completed, 3D printed perfectly in TPU. You're my hero.
you can have accurate stock for the second op if you save you simulation stock from the first op as a stl file then import it and position it over your second op model
like when you run the simulation of your first op when the simulation is done don't close it. right click anywhere on the screen and click save stock. you can save your stock that way as an stl file. go back to design mode. go to import. import your stock file. NOTE* you have to import it in millimeters for some reason or else your stock model will be too big. from there use the move feature to position the stock. I use from point to point and pick two similar corners.
Thanks for sharing.
No more videos ? Is it all fine ?
I thought the same, he’s disappeared!! Where are you Kevin?
i want to create a setup and having issues in setting up the axis X& Z can you help me out?
Where can I find this model?
Data panel -> samples -> Cam samples -> Tutorials
THANK YOU
Well I guess now I know where I stand. lol I drew up the part and than watched how you did it...took me 3 times as long. lol Good stuff! Thx
